In this section, you’ll use FilmOptima’s optimization queue to run the Needle and AnyNeedle methods on a simple AR coating, effortlessly comparing them back-to-back.
The results are revealing: the Needle method finished in just under 3 seconds, while the AnyNeedle method took around 13 seconds.
However, by checking the Optimization History, we see that AnyNeedle had already found a better design (0.23 merit) using only a 13-layer, 758nm stack—surpassing the final (15-layer) Needle result using ~25% less material and two fewer layers.
